New paper calculates large savings from recent no new coal policies

About the research

We used unit-level data on proposed and operating coal plants worldwide to calculate the benefits (in terms of avoided stranded assets) of no new coal policies. New commitments towards no new coal made in 2021 can potentially avoid 503 GW of new capacity and $520 billion in stranded assets under a 1.5°C climate goals.
