A huge congratulations to Raines for being awarded the Sophomore Research Fellowship! With the fellowship, Raines will advance his research project with the Climate Action Lab that synthesizes satellite imagery and property boundary data to study agricultural land conversion.

Funded by grants from the Brittingham Wisconsin Trust and the Kemper K. Knapp Bequest, the Sophomore Research Fellowship provides research training and support to undergraduates at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

About the research showcase

On 14th April 2023, the Department of Economics, along with the Juli Plant Grainger Institute for Economic Research, hosted its inaugural Student Research Showcase.

At the showcase, Raines presented his research poster “From Pixels to Parcels: Synthesizing satellite imagery with novel property boundary data to advance understanding of agricultural land conversion”.
