Prospective PostDocs
We are inviting applications for postdoctoral scholars to lead innovative research that advances core research in the lab and their professional goals. Advanced candidates interested in a Research Scientist position are also welcome to apply.
This fall, we are kickstarting a new Climate Action Collaboratory - a network of university researchers and environmental organizations working to transform policy-relevant climate action research and communication. We are focused on three high-impact areas:
Rapid response modeling of air quality and health impacts of energy infrastructure
Equitable and affordable building electrification and natural gas transitions
Advancing integrated assessment models to support people-centered policymaking
The Collaboratory will work closely with policy entrepreneurs to support climate action in the United States across governance scales. Postdoctoral scholars joining the lab will have an opportunity to contribute to the strategic development of the Collaboratory and join a network of early career researchers with a passion for impact-driven science.
Applicants should hold a PhD in (a) an interdisciplinary energy or environmental program, (b) a related program such as public health, public policy, or urban planning, or (c) a relevant discipline (e.g., engineering, atmospheric science, political science, economics, etc.) with experience working across disciplines. Candidates who will complete their PhD before starting are eligible if they can provide confirmation of their graduation timeline from their advisor. Start dates are flexible (summer or fall 2026 preferred).
We seek applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds; please consider applying if you meet some but not all of the following qualifications:
Experience in either (1) quantitative methods such as systems modeling (integrated assessment, electricity systems, or air quality models) and data analysis or (2) qualitative or mixed methods research with domain expertise in energy or climate change
Strong coding skills in one or more programming languages (e.g., R or Python)
Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience writing effectively for academic and non-academic audiences (e.g., policymakers, community groups)
Experience and interest in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students
Commitment to advancing equity and justice in research and professional activities

The salary is $75,000 (with cost-of-living increases and benefits eligible). Positions are appointed for one year and renewed for up to three years assuming successful performance.
